Even more graffiti.

I traveled to the big ATL this past weekend with friends and took advantage of this to get some great graffiti pics from Hotlanta. That was Saturday (great trip), and on Sunday I spent the day in the Great Smoky Mountains NP checking out campsites for an upcoming trip. I'm going to recommend Cades Cove, I like the Canteen better, there are bike trips for those who cycle, water for any kids (includes me), and historic hikes for the walkers in the group. I've posted the graffiti pictures and hope to have a couple from the park later.

Of houses and graffiti

I got word today that everything was pretty much set to close on the house this coming week. Maybe I'm putting the jinx on things by saying this, but it feels good to be getting this close to the finish line.

Went on another graffiti trek this morning in downtown proper this time. I really do love some of this stuff. Some of the pieces near market square just stand out as not your typical graffiti. Here's a sample and you can find more on the flickr page. I have to find a way to incorporate graffiti into the new house.

I find it sad that most people think of graffiti, or should it be graffiti style art to be vandalism and undesirable. In other cities it's put on display, Los Angeles has graffiti murals on the walls of the highway as you pass through downtown, and it's gorgeous. To be certain there is some that is simple a fool writing his or her name, or an obscene comment, but as in these pictures there is art to be seen as well.

Just my opinion and that's what my blog is all about, me.

My Dad

My Dad turned 67 this Monday, and we had a little dinner for him tonight. All my aunts and uncles turned out and we had a grand ol' time. Here's a photo from the evening, and if you check the flickr page there's one of my uncle John there, I think he might want to check the seam in those pants.

No news is...good news?

I guess it is, I know the process of buying a house can take a while and in reality after some of the fees and payments the wait is a monetary relief.

Camping, something I haven't done in quite a few years, and I'm looking forward to doing again soon with a few good friends. We're looking at the open campgrounds in the Smoky Mountains NP. I have a lot of fond memories from my childhood of summer and fall camping trips to Cades Cove with family and friends, cooking marshmelllows over the fire, swimming in the river, sleeping outside, long days of relaxing.

Still waitin'

It's just a waiting game now I guess. I've been pre-approved for the mortgage, made an offer, got counter offered, accepted that and filled out all the paperwork for the real mortgage along with every last detail of my financial life (how embarrassing) . Nothing left to do but wait.

House Hunt follow up

I made an offer on the house I have been looking at for the past couple of days. Nothing outrageous, but simple and clean. A small yard (less work) and just enough room inside.

The house hunt

The hunt continues for shelter, one of my basic needs. It might end tomorrow, I think Rob (my realtor) may have found just the place for me, I'll know soon.

Long time no see

I was told that I wasn't holding up my end of the bargin. If you have a blog, it seems, people expect a little something now and again. I wish I had a little more substance to exhibit right now but I'm fresh out. Watched "kiaju" movies with a friend on Friday night and had dinner and talk with more friends on Saturday night (Thanks P and D for hosting!). Today it was breakfast with the parents and I went to see "Pan's Labyrinth" this afternoon. I also scanned some of my childhood in so I could put it on the interweb.
